Unfortunately, for the Red Devils, they’re currently sitting quite far from that top five, resting in 13th place with just 38 points after 31 matches. Given their performance so far, the prospect of European football next season seems unlikely—but it’s not completely out of reach.
If Manchester United can get the cup, then they will have a place in the Champions League next season. Will Manchester United snatch a Champions League spot? The answer lies in the Europa League. If they manage to win the tournament, they will earn an automatic place in the Champions League, regardless of their Premier League standing. This means that even if they finish in the lower half of the league, a Europa League victory would secure them a spot in Europe’s elite competition.
While winning the Europa League may feel like a long shot based on their current form, it’s worth noting that the team is unbeaten in this competition so far. They’ve successfully reached the quarterfinals and are preparing to face Lyon from Ligue 1.
With their hopes pinned on the Europa League, Manchester United’s focus will be intensely directed toward this tournament. If they can make a strong run and ultimately lift the trophy in Bilbao, they could very well become the sixth Premier League club to qualify for the Champions League next season. It’s all or nothing for the Red Devils, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
