Paul Pogba, a former midfielder for Manchester United and Juventus, is allegedly in advanced negotiations to sign with Monaco of Ligue 1, after the French team extended an offer to him for a two-year contract.
After his brief second stint at Juventus ended due to an 18-month doping suspension, the 2018 World Cup winner is eager to rekindle his career.
Initially handed a four-year ban, Paul Pogba successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, leading to the suspension being reduced to 18 months.
Now 32, Paul Pogba has been free to return to competitive football since March. Many clubs in Europe and beyond have shown interest in bringing him on board.
There were even surprising reports in December stating that Manchester City considered an approach for Pogba, although he hesitated to make the move due to his connections with Manchester United.
The Monegasques have purportedly tabled a two-year deal for Paul Pogba, which would run until the summer of 2027. Negotiations are expected to continue over the weekend in hopes of reaching a final agreement.
Paul Pogba last competed in September 2023, just before it was discovered that his testosterone levels were out of normal. The CAS concluded, however, that the supplement in question had no effect on male performance.
Paul Pogba has won 14 major awards over his club and international career, although he hasn’t played for the French national team since March 2022.
Ansu Fati, a Barcelona outcast, is also said to be one of Monaco’s two top targets. The 22-year-old, who was once viewed as Lionel Messi’s replacement, has suffered from injuries and competition at Camp Nou, making just 11 appearances the previous season without contributing a goal or an assist.
Monaco qualified for the Champions League group stage by finishing third in the 2024–25 Ligue 1 season, behind Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
