Gleison Bremer – For the first time in what feels like forever, Juventus could soon have one of their biggest names back on the pitch. Having all of their top players fit and available for the crucial stages of Serie A and the Champions League has been a rare luxury in recent years, largely because their defensive anchor Gleison Bremer has spent much of the past 14 months battling knee injuries.
The Brazilian centre-back has been sidelined since early October after suffering a torn meniscus, but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bremer recently travelled to Lyon for a medical check-up — and the results were positive. His doctors have reportedly cleared him to begin preparing for a return to action in the near future.
The only question now is when that return will actually happen. Juventus, under new manager Luciano Spalletti, are desperate to have their defensive leader back as soon as possible, especially given the team’s recent struggles at the back. Early signs suggest the first week of December could be a realistic target, with the club’s high-profile clash against Napoli on December 7 being floated as a potential comeback date.
That timeline would make for a tight turnaround. Bremer still needs to regain full match sharpness before being thrown into a fixture of that magnitude — one that would pit Spalletti against his former side for the first time since leading them to the Scudetto. Still, the fact that Bremer’s recovery is on track is a major boost for Juventus, who have sorely missed his presence in defence.
Reports from Tuttosport also offered some insight into his rehabilitation. Bremer has been training both at his home gym and at Continassa, Juventus’ training complex, using an advanced AlterG treadmill — a piece of NASA-developed technology worth upwards of $75,000. The machine allows him to run at reduced body weight, easing the strain on his recovering knee while building fitness.
After undergoing ACL surgery just over a year ago, this second knee issue was a major setback. But now, with the green light from doctors and steady progress in training, Bremer’s long road back looks to be nearly complete. Juventus will just hope that this time, his return marks the start of an injury-free run.
