Alan Pardew believes Harry Kane will return to the Premier League and eventually break Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record — but not in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
Kane left Spurs in the summer of 2023, joining Bayern Munich just 47 goals shy of Shearer’s record tally of 260. He has since maintained his prolific play in Germany, scoring 73 goals for Bayern in the league and an incredible 18 goals in his first 10 games this season in all competitions.
The 31-year-old has made no secret of his affection for English football and his desire to one day return, but Alan Pardew thinks that when Kane does come back, it will be for a different club entirely.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Premier League manager said:
“Yeah, I can see that. But you think he’ll do it in a Spurs shirt, not another shirt. I think Man United.”
Alan Pardew’s comments come amid ongoing speculation linking Kane with a move back to England, especially as Manchester United continue to search for a long-term No.9.
Kane, meanwhile, has admitted that while a return once felt inevitable, his stance has softened since settling into life in Munich.
“In terms of staying longer I could definitely see that,” Kane said. “I haven’t had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I’d be willing to talk and have an honest conversation. It depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together.
“If you’d asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I’d have said for sure I would come back. Now I’ve been there a couple of years, I’d probably say that has gone down a little bit — but I wouldn’t say I’d never go back.”
Kane added that he remains “all in” with Bayern under manager Vincent Kompany, and is focused on continuing to improve and chase major trophies.
Beyond domestic ambitions, the England captain also has his sights set on the Ballon d’Or.
“I would love to win the Ballon d’Or,” he said. “It’s an accumulation of doing something great individually and as a team — almost the perfect season.”
With Kane’s scoring form showing no signs of slowing, few would bet against him returning to England one day to rewrite Premier League history.
