Bojan Miovski ‘Mon the Gers’ Clip Rekindles Aberdeen Heartache

Bojan Miovski is today poised to join Rangers as their 11th signing of the summer with four days of the window still left.

But there was one moment in his great Aberdeen career when the striker himself scoffed at the thought of wearing the Light Blue.

Gers have reached a £2.6milllion deal with Girona for the North Macedonia worldwide which will rise to £4.2milliion in add-ons.

Russell Martin wooed the player at Southampton when he spent a spell in the dugout there and is now set to reunite the striker with him in Scotland.

Bojan Miovski joined Premiership rivals Aberdeen just 12 months ago in a £6.8m transfer but is set to return to Scotland’s top-flight at the end of a disastrous year in Spain where he found the net just four times in 24 appearances.

The 26-year-old netted 44 times in a couple of seasons at Pittodrie but might get a warm send-off when confronted with his old club when Rangers face Aberdeen at Ibrox on November 1.

Earlier in the summer, Bojan Miovski had hinted at a possible exit for further down the road at the Granite City, where he had quickly become a genuine fan favourite since being signed from MTK Budapest by Jim Goodwin in July 2022.

And the report that he is bound for a transfer to Ibrox is a heartbreaker for Aberdeen diehards because several of their veteran stars in recent seasons made the trek over to play for their sworn rivals in a sequence of transfers involving Connor Barron, Scott Wright and Ryan Jack. Bojan Miovski had previously been rumoured as a Celtic target while at Pittodrie, with links to Rangers having been subdued by Aberdeen transfer gurus putting a premium asking price up front for their man.

In the short clip – which is believed to have been taken in December 2023 – a smiling Ibrox punter utters ‘Mon the Gers’ when a shocked Miovski retorts ‘what?’ then saunters off-camera.

Miovski’s arrival is imminent while Rangers make a fortune out of Hamza Igamane.

The overseas frontman was at the centre of a stink in Govan last week when he rejected Martin’s gesture for him to come on as a substitute when his team were 1-0 down at St Mirren.

Ligue 1 club Lille rejected offers for their centre man at the start of this summer but are set to sign their target now.

They have taken up Rangers’ release option on him, which will earn Rangers a whopping fee of £10.4million, roughly 10 times what they paid FAR Rabat 12 months ago for him when bringing him north.

Cyriel Dessers, his attack partner, may also leave the club before September 1 deadline as Panathinaikos make an attempt for his signature.
