Bryan Mbeumo Reveals Two Key Talks That Sealed Man Utd Move

Bryan Mbeumo has revealed that two key conversations influenced his decision to join Manchester United this summer.

The Cameroon international became United’s latest addition following a £65 million transfer from Brentford earlier this month. At 25 years of age, Bryan Mbeumo has joined his new teammates on the Red Devils’ pre-season tour in the United States, although he has yet to make his official debut.

Manager Ruben Amorim ruled him out of Thursday’s match against Bournemouth but hinted that Mbeumo might play against Everton this weekend. In his first media appearance since his move to Old Trafford, Mbeumo shared that a discussion with Amorim played a pivotal role in his choice to join the club.

“He said, ‘We are people who like winning, and we want to be the best team,’ and of course that’s what we will try to do,” Bryan Mbeumo stated. “It was a very friendly and constructive conversation. He laid out his vision for the team, and I really connected with that. I did speak with other managers to understand their projects, but Manchester United’s appeal was just right for me.”

Bryan Mbeumo emphasized his desire to compete on the biggest stages, noting that Old Trafford is one of those iconic venues. “You want to play on the greatest stages in the world, and Old Trafford is one of them, so being able to play here every two weeks is just big,” he expressed.

Prior to his move, Mbeumo was linked with other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Newcastle United. A transfer to Tottenham would have made sense given his former manager, Thomas Frank, was appointed there. However, another factor influenced his decision: his international teammate and first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

“I spoke to him, yeah, he wanted me to come,” Bryan Mbeumo confirmed. “It’s always good to have someone like him around.”
