Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has hinted that highly rated teenager Endrick will not be allowed to leave the club on loan in January, despite growing interest from Manchester United and several European clubs.
The 19-year-old forward, who joined Madrid from Palmeiras earlier this year, has endured a frustrating start to life at the Bernabéu. After missing the opening five games of the season through injury, Endrick has since been an unused substitute in the last six matches — leaving him yet to make his first appearance under Alonso.
With competition for places fierce, reports have suggested that a temporary move could be on the cards when the winter transfer window opens. Manchester United, Juventus, Newcastle United, and West Ham United have all been linked with a loan move, while Marseille are said to view Endrick as a potential replacement for Amine Gouiri and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, both of whom will be away on international duty during the Africa Cup of Nations.
Endrick is reportedly eager to secure regular game time as he bids to earn a spot in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad. However, Alonso’s latest comments suggest that Real Madrid may not be willing to sanction an exit just yet.
“Endrick on loan? We’re not at that point yet,” Alonso told reporters ahead of Madrid’s Champions League clash with Juventus. “The competition in attack is intense. This is the elite, and we need a lot of good players.”
Those words hint that Alonso sees the young Brazilian as part of his long-term plans, even if minutes have been hard to come by so far.
According to AS, Endrick’s frustration boiled over during Madrid’s narrow 1-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday. The teenager was reportedly seen kicking a water bottle on the bench after being overlooked once again, as Alonso opted to bring on Brahim Díaz and Gonzalo García instead.
Kylian Mbappé’s late strike sealed the win for Madrid, keeping them within touching distance of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Endrick will now hope to finally make his competitive debut when Real Madrid face Juventus at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday night. For now, though, all signs suggest Alonso plans to keep the talented Brazilian firmly in his plans — not on loan elsewhere.
