Erling Haaland Injury Rocks Man City Ahead of Crucial Fixtures

Manchester City has received a significant injury setback, as Erling Haaland is expected to be sidelined for a while. Haaland sustained ankle injuries during City’s 2-1 victory in the FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth on Sunday. The striker had just scored his 30th goal of the season to equalize when he was injured in a challenge with Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook.

Haaland’s Absence Deals Major Blow to Manchester City’s Campaign

City reports that Haaland underwent initial tests on his ankle on Monday and will now consult a specialist to determine the full extent of the injury. Pep Guardiola’s team is facing a challenging battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League and will play against Leicester and Manchester United this week. Following that, they have home matches against Crystal Palace and an away game at Everton, leading up to their FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Wembley on April 26.

The only timeframe City could provide regarding Haaland’s recovery is that he is expected to be fit before the end of the season. A statement on the club’s website read: “Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury. Assessment is ongoing to ascertain a complete prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to contribute to the remainder of the season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
