Napoli are looking to secure a major deal for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho after an unsuccessful bid in January, according to reports. The Serie A giants have found success with their signing of Scott McTominay and are set to return to Old Trafford for more talent.
The Mirror reports that Napoli are now aiming to acquire Garnacho for a reduced fee of £45m as they seek to strengthen their squad after bringing in Kevin De Bruyne. Antonio Conte is gearing up to defend the Italian title after edging out Inter Milan last season.
United is keen to let rid of the 21-year-old winger following a falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim during the previous campaign. Garnacho is among a number of players who have been instructed to miss preseason training as they prepare for potential trades.
Even while United values Garnacho at £60 million, they understand that the public controversy and their urgent need to sell may make it impossible to reach that amount.
Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has voiced confidence in Garnacho’s abilities, saying, “Garnacho’s got pace, flair and potential. But that’s not even why we want him. We want him because he’s at United. Get him out, and he becomes twice the player. I’m unable to describe United’s problem.
After being abruptly left out of Manchester United’s starting eleven for the pivotal Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, which was played in Bilbao, Garnacho found himself at issues with manager Amorim. Following the team’s devastating 1-0 loss, the young Argentine talent let his frustration run wild. He publicly criticized Amorim’s tactical decisions, stating that he believed his contribution could have altered the game’s outcome. Garnacho further expressed that this contentious incident has led him to reflect on his future with the team, indicating he would take the time over the summer break to carefully consider his position and the opportunities available to him.
