James Justin Joins Leeds: Transfer Fee and Contract Terms Revealed

Posted on

England-qualified full back James Justin joins Leeds United as their tenth signing of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old defender James Justin arrives from Leicester City on a deal worth an initial £8m, with up to £2m more in add-ons, signing a four-year contract at Elland Road.

James Justin follows winger Noah Okafor, who completed an £18m move from AC Milan on Thursday, as Daniel Farke continues to strengthen his squad. The manager was keen to add depth at full-back, and Justin now fills that role as the latest summer recruit.

The YEP understands the deal includes £8m guaranteed plus potential add-ons, though those are not certain to be met.

James Justin underwent his medical at Thorp Arch on Monday, joining on the eve of Leeds’ Carabao Cup clash at Sheffield Wednesday. However, he has not been registered in time to play due to Monday being a bank holiday. New signings must be registered by 12 noon on the last working day before a fixture to be eligible.

That means Justin’s first chance to feature will likely come on Saturday when Leeds United host Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Primarily a right back, James Justin is capable of playing on either flank and has also been deployed on the wing. He joined Leicester city from Luton Town in June 2019 and earned his England debut in June 2022, starting against Hungary in Budapest before being replaced at halftime by Bukayo Saka.

During his time at Leicester, James Justin made 169 appearances, including 99 in the Premier League and 11 across European competitions. He was also part of the Foxes’ FA Cup-winning side in 2020-21.

A Leeds United statement read:
“Everyone at Leeds United would like to welcome James Justin to the club and we now look forward to seeing him in action in our upcoming matches.”
