Kerolin Powers Brazil to Dramatic 2025 Copa America Triumph

The talented forward from City was included in Arthur Elias’ starting lineup and proved to be a constant threat throughout the match before being substituted during extra time, as both teams ended the match in a dramatic 4-4 draw before heading to the penalty shootout.

In the group stage, the two teams had met previously and played to a 0-0 draw, with both sides struggling to convert their chances. This latest encounter, however, ignited with action, starting when Linda Caicedo opened the scoring for Colombia in the 25th minute with a composed finish from close range, stirring an evening full of thrills in Ecuador.

As the first half drew to a close, Brazil was awarded a crucial penalty, which Angelina expertly converted, equalizing the scores just before halftime. Colombia quickly regained the lead, albeit in somewhat fortuitous circumstances, when miscommunication between Lorena and Tarciane led to an unfortunate own goal by Tarciane 20 minutes from time.

The match was a thrilling back-and-forth, with Brazil equalizing once more thanks to Amanda Gutierres, who produced a stunning finish from inside the box. Just when it seemed like Colombia had secured the win, Mayra Ramirez found the net in the 88th minute, seemingly sealing the deal for her team. In an incredible twist of fate, the iconic Marta leveled the score deep into injury time with a powerful strike from the edge of the area. She then put Brazil ahead for the first time in the match during extra time with a skillful finish in the 105th minute.

Brazil remained calm and triumphed 5–4 after a tense standoff in which both teams took seven penalties. Colombia, undaunted, rallied forcefully, led by Leicy Santos, who expertly curled a free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards out.
