Nick Pope has made a solid comeback to the Newcastle United lineup, but his long-term future with the club seems a bit uncertain. Last summer, there were rumors about Newcastle bringing in a new goalkeeper, and it looks likely they’ll make another move this summer as well. Though Pope’s contract runs until June 2026, he’s caught the attention of some clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Interestingly, Leeds United has included Nick Pope on their shortlist as they consider potential upgrades for their goalkeeper position. Currently, Newcastle has five senior goalkeepers, yet none seem to have a definitive future with the club. Both Pope and Martin Dubravka, who are the first and second-choice goalkeepers, will see their contracts expire next summer and have both been linked with moves away.
Odysseas Vlachodimos is not expected to feature much in competitive matches going forward, and John Ruddy and Mark Gillespie will also be out of contract this summer. With Leeds preparing for the possibility of a return to the Premier League, they are reportedly looking at Pope as a possible upgrade from Illan Meslier, especially after Meslier’s inconsistent performances have allowed former Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow to step in. Leeds plans to address their goalkeeping situation this summer, especially since Meslier’s contract is currently set to expire.
