Martin Responds to Speculation Linking Vardy with Rangers Move
Russell Martin has addressed speculation surrounding Jamie Vardy’s potential move to Rangers.
The head coach was asked about the former Leicester City and England striker following Rangers’ 2-2 draw against Club Brugge.
Rumours have intensified linking the Scottish Premiership side with the 38-year-old, who has been without a club since his Leicester contract ended earlier this month.
According to reports coming out of Italy, he has decided against moving to Genoa in favor of joining Rangers, a move that has generated a lot of attention from both supporters and experts.
When asked about the possibility of Vardy joining the team, Mr. Martin remained cautious in light of these developments. His demeanor was one of discretion, as he refrained from divulging any specifics.
He stated, “I have been inquired about numerous players during this transfer window. Some are located far away, while others come with substantial financial implications.”
When pressed further, he reiterated his stance, saying, “I cannot provide a definitive answer regarding these speculations.”
Mr. Martin concluded with a note of anticipation, suggesting that the truth about player signings would soon be revealed: “However, I suppose you will find out which rumors are serious and which are not in the upcoming weeks.”
With the first leg of the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos just over two weeks away, Mr Martin expects changes to his squad but did not specify the number of potential new signings.
The 39-year-old said: “I expect the team to look different again, the squad to look different in a week’s time, but in a couple of weeks, so much can happen in football, so I don’t know.
“So, I think we are, we’re definitely want to do more, for sure.
“And also probably some players need to move on as well at some point because the squad’s going to start looking very big and very heavy.”
