Barcelona May Miss Raphinha in Sunday’s Showdown with Real Madrid

Raphinha has been ruled out of FC Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga match against Real Madrid.

The Brazilian winger had recently returned to full training after spending nearly a month on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury that he picked up earlier this season. His recovery had appeared to be progressing smoothly, raising hopes that he would be ready to feature in one of Barcelona’s biggest matches of the campaign. However, reports now indicate that he experienced discomfort during Thursday’s training session, which prevented him from completing the workout as planned.

According to multiple sources, Raphinha arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva training ground this morning but departed shortly after, even before his teammates had stepped onto the field for practice. This unexpected development has caused concern within the Barcelona camp, as it suggests that his recovery may not have gone as smoothly as initially thought.

Extended absence for Raphinha?
Journalist Javi Miguel of AS has reported that Raphinha’s condition could be more serious than first assumed, and Barcelona’s medical staff fear that he may have suffered a relapse of his hamstring injury. Should that be confirmed, the winger could face another month out of action, dealing a major blow to Hansi Flick’s plans for the upcoming fixtures.

In such a case, Raphinha—who has already missed five games—would be unavailable for at least four more, including high-profile matches against Real Madrid, Elche, Club Brugge, and Celta Vigo. The club is tentatively targeting November 22, when Barcelona face Athletic Club, as a potential return date if his recovery goes well this time.

For now, one thing is certain: Raphinha will not be part of the Barcelona squad that travels to the Santiago Bernabéu for Sunday’s El Clásico. Before his injury, the Brazilian had been in fine form, making seven appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists, and playing an influential role in Barcelona’s attack.
