Rodrygo Faces Summer Exit After Losing Ground Under Xabi at Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly open to allowing Arsenal target Rodrygo to leave the club this summer after he has fallen out of favor, according to reports. Rodrygo’s future has become a key topic during the Club World Cup, with speculation that his performances will influence whether he stays at the club.

The talented winger seemed poised to exit Real Madrid following his dramatic declaration that he would never don the team’s jersey again. This statement came in the wake of his refusal to participate in the highly anticipated El Clasico match against Barcelona in May, escalating tensions surrounding his future at the club.

Amidst these developments, there have been reports suggesting that Arsenal has engaged in discussions with Rodrygo’s representative. The Premier League club is actively on the lookout for a left-sided attacker to bolster their squad, making Rodrygo a strong candidate for their recruitment efforts. Furthermore, Arsenal has also shown keen interest in securing the talents of Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, indicating that they are focused on enhancing their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.

In the meantime, Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Juventus, with Gonzalo Garcia netting the decisive goal. Garcia, 21, has been making a name for himself in the Real Madrid attack during the tournament, especially in light of Kylian Mbappe’s recent health issues.

Garcia’s emergence has increased competition in the forward positions, putting additional pressure on Rodrygo’s role. Although Rodrygo has been training well, Alonso stressed that he has the last say over who plays before the match against Juventus.

“I try to approach everyone I meet along the way after the game,” Alonso stated. “I think he will be very important, and he had some crucial minutes [against Salzburg].” Those who start can be just as important in these competitions as those who enter. Each player must be ready for any situation. Everyone has a positive mindset. Rodrygo is training well, and I see him in good spirits. Ultimately, it’s my decision who plays.”

Real Madrid has reportedly set an asking price of €90m (£77m) for the forward, with Arsenal being intensely linked to the player. According to the Spanish outlet Cadena SER, the Gunners have “a real possibility” of completing the deal.
