Manchester United vs Sunderland: Lineups Confirmed as Amorim Hands Debut to Lammens.
Manchester United will be desperate to bounce back this afternoon when they host newly-promoted Sunderland at Old Trafford. The pressure is already starting to build on Ruben Amorim after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford left the Reds languishing in 14th place with just two wins from their opening six matches.
Amorim has responded by ringing the changes. The biggest call comes in goal, where summer signing Senne Lammens makes his long-awaited debut between the sticks. At the back, Leny Yoro is recalled to partner Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw, with Harry Maguire dropping out of the squad entirely.
Diogo Dalot continues at wing-back, while in midfield Amorim has opted for the energy of Amad Diallo and the experience of Casemiro, who returns to the starting XI. Manuel Ugarte makes way, with Bruno Fernandes retaining his spot to dictate play.
Further forward, Amorim has shuffled his attacking options. Bryan Mbeumo keeps his place after showing flashes of promise, while Benjamin Sesko once again leads the line. Mason Mount is recalled to start, with Matheus Cunha named among the substitutes.
For Sunderland, Regis Le Bris has his side flying high in the early weeks of the season, sitting comfortably in the top five. The Black Cats line up with Nordi Mukiele fit to start in defence alongside Omar Alderete and Arthur Masuaku, while the midfield features Xhaka and Le Fée pulling strings. Adingra and Isidor provide the attacking threat, with Traoré offering creativity in behind.
