Wolves Turn the Tables on Ipswich with Stunning Comeback Win

Ipswich’s fight to stay in the Premier League took a significant hit as they fell 2-1 at home against Wolves. This loss widened the gap between the two teams to 12 points, with only seven matches remaining in the season.
Ipswich initially took the lead in the match with a goal from Liam Delap just 16 minutes in. However, Wolves equalized in the 72nd minute through Pablo Sarabia, and then Jorgen Strand Larsen completed the comeback just six minutes from time.
It could have been even worse for Ipswich, thanks to a poor first-half mistake by their goalkeeper, Alex Palmer, who nearly allowed Wolves to score after a backpass slipped under his foot, but he managed to recover before any damage was done.
Wolves’ Brazilian international Joao Gomes nearly opened the scoring with a powerful shot that sailed just over the bar after a neat one-two with Rayan Ait-Nouri. After 10 minutes, Palmer made a solid save, deflecting an angled shot from Strand Larsen for a corner. Ipswich then took the lead six minutes later when Axel Tuanzebe sent a pass to Dara O’Shea. O’Shea managed to head the ball into the danger zone, where Delap was quick to pounce and score from close range, marking his 12th goal of the season. There was a brief hold-up as VAR checked for a potential offside but ultimately allowed the goal.
Shortly after, Ait-Nouri’s corner kick evaded everyone and was headed towards the goal until O’Shea made a crucial clearance off the line under pressure from Toti. In the 36th minute, Palmer made another error when a backpass from O’Shea slipped under his foot, but he recovered just in time to claw the ball away before it could cross the line.
Referee Peter Bankes awarded a free kick just six yards out, with all 11 Ipswich players lined up on the goal line. Emmanuel Agbadou’s shot managed to hit the wall, and the danger was cleared. There were calls for a penalty when the ball appeared to hit Andre’s arm, but those appeals were waved away. Wolves finally equalized with 18 minutes left on the clock thanks to Sarabia, who scored after a block on his first shot from Jens Cajuste.
The visitors then took the lead with Strand Larsen’s goal, which came after a lengthy VAR check. Sarabia delivered a first-time cross that slipped through substitute Leif Davis’s legs, allowing the Norwegian striker to tap it in from close range.
As the match came to a close, the 2,955 Wolves fans in the crowd of 29,549 celebrated, chanting “we are staying up,” while Ipswich was left to ponder their dwindling chances of survival in the league.
