Barcelona Chasing Bundesliga Talent, But Player Says Situation Stays Same

FC Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make a major attacking acquisition next summer as they look to secure a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

Despite the Polish striker’s resurgence in form over recent weeks, the club’s hierarchy believe it is time to begin the next chapter of their attacking rebuild. The England captain, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, continues to impress in Germany and is viewed by Barça officials as a ready-made fit for their attacking system. Reports in Spain suggest that Kane’s €65 million release clause, which becomes active next summer, is considered a realistic figure by the Catalan club.

However, in a recent interview with BILD, Kane poured cold water on rumours linking him with a move away from Bavaria.

“I haven’t been in contact with anyone, nor has anyone been in contact with me,” Kane said ahead of Bayern’s Champions League showdown with Arsenal. “I feel very comfortable in the current situation, and we haven’t discussed anything with Bayern about the future yet. There’s no rush — I’m happy here, and that shows in the way I play.”

When pressed further about his long-term future and whether he could potentially leave Bayern in the summer, the 31-year-old was unequivocal.

“It’s very unlikely that anything will change next season,” he stated, adding, “Bayern fans shouldn’t feel uneasy. I’m completely focused on the team and our objectives.”

Kane’s comments will come as a setback for Barcelona, who had already made initial enquiries about his availability. Club sources view the English striker as a player who could replicate the impact Lewandowski made when he first arrived from Bayern, bringing immediate quality and experience to a youthful side.

However, with Kane seemingly content in Munich and focused on both the Bundesliga and next year’s World Cup, it remains uncertain whether the Blaugrana can persuade him to consider a new challenge in Spain.
