Benjamin Sesko Reacts to Man Utd Offer Amid Newcastle Bid Plans

Manchester United have reportedly made an offer to Benjamin Sesko to persuade him to join Old Trafford, as Fabrizio Romano highlights the growing competition from Newcastle United. After securing significant signings in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Diego Leon during the summer transfer window, Man Utd is now focused on finding a reliable striker. Manager Ruben Amorim is aware that he cannot solely depend on Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee if the team aims to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

The club had previously expressed strong interest in Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, but with Delap moving to Chelsea and Gyokeres joining Arsenal, the search continues. According to TEAMtalk, Sesko is believed to be the Red Devils’ first target, although they are also pursuing Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa and Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain.

The German team valued Benjamin Sesko at £67.3 million (€77.7 million, $91 million), and United is pushing up its efforts to sign him, according to Fraser Fletcher, TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, who made this announcement on July 18. Although the Red Devils are also seeking Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain and Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, Sesko is thought to be their priority target, according to TEAMtalk.

Plettenberg tweeted on July 28, at 10:26 am: “Manchester United and Newcastle are currently in talks with Benjamin #Sesko’s management. Both teams have presented their projects and financial offers. #MUFC The decision now lies mainly with the player and his camp. Offers are expected to be formally submitted to RB Leipzig following the verbal agreement. However, #NUFC pushing a lot.”

Later that day, Plettenberg further noted at 5:48 pm: “Manchester United are not giving up on Benjamin #Sesko. As revealed today, #MUFC have presented the player with clear figures and their project. Benjamin Sesko is impressed by Man United’s efforts to sign him. However: Newcastle are fully in the race and not backing down. An offer is ready to be submitted at any time. Leipzig are now demanding at least €80 million (£69.4 million, $92.7 million).”

Fabrizio Romano has also shared insights regarding Sesko’s future, stating that while Newcastle is determined to sign the player, Man Utd remains firmly in the race. On his YouTube channel, Romano mentioned that this week is pivotal, as Newcastle has laid out their project to the player’s representatives and is ready to make substantial financial offers.

According to Romano, “For Sesko, Newcastle are ready to make something big, but don’t overlook Manchester United. They have been discussing striker options internally for days, including Ollie Watkins, but Aston Villa is firmly resisting any sales. Man United is intensifying their contact with Sesko’s camp, aiming to discuss potential numbers, contracts, and their vision for the club.”

Romano emphasized the importance of monitoring the situation closely, given that there is a gentleman’s agreement between Benjamin Sesko, his agent, and RB Leipzig. The transfer cost may be reduced to about €70–80 million under this arrangement, maybe with further bonuses, if the player indicates a strong preference for one of the clubs.

Both Newcastle and Manchester United are obviously quite interested in Sesko, and his decision-making process over his next transfer might be made public in the days ahead.
