Bryan Mbeumo Acknowledges Transfer Speculation Amid Man Utd and Tottenham Interest

Posted on

Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has expressed that he “accepts” the speculation surrounding his future, noting interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have commenced initial discussions with Brentford regarding a potential deal for Mbeumo, who is growing more interested in a move to Spurs following the appointment of Thomas Frank as head coach.

A source who spoke to Sky Sports News claims that Bryan Mbeumo is presently leaning toward Manchester United, who are anticipated to extend their offer for the Brentford forward.
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports’ Craig Slater, Bryan Mbeumo reflected on the transfer rumors, saying: “It (transfer speculation) is a bit new for me I would say! I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it.”

He had an impressive season, scoring 20 Premier League goals as Brentford finished 10th, narrowly missing out on European qualification. “It’s been my best season so far in the Premier League,” he stated. “And even collectively, I think we did play very good games. I think we’ve been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but I think it’s been a fantastic season.”

Bryan Mbeumo also praised Frank’s impact on his career and the team’s development. “He’s done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start,” he said. “He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I’m sure he’s going to do well.”

Regarding Frank’s potential success at Spurs, he added, “He knows everything. He’s really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he’s been fantastic for Brentford.”

Bryan Mbeumo recognizes that Frank will face challenges at Spurs but is confident in his capabilities. “I think he’s going to have some time to adapt, obviously. [Champions League] games, more expectations, as you said, but I’m sure he’s going to do well. He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that’s why we’ve been playing so well.”

As for Brentford’s coaching future, set-piece coach Keith Andrews emerges as one of the primary contenders to take over from Frank. Having been part of Frank’s coaching staff since last year, Andrews is well-respected within the club. Brentford previously promoted from within when they needed a new head coach, as Frank was Dean Smith’s assistant.

Mbeumo acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, “It’s big shoes to fill. I think, (Frank had) seven years as a head coach. So, obviously it’s going to be changing, but let’s see.”

In other news, from next season, Premier League coverage will expand from 128 to at least 215 matches exclusively live, with 80 percent of all televised Premier League.
