Cunha Selected for Man United’s Pre-Season Battle Against Leeds
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has named new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon in his squad for Saturday’s pre-season match against Leeds United.
The 20-time English champions will kick off their preparations for the upcoming season with this encounter in Sweden before heading to the United States for a pre-season tour.
However, Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer has not been finalized in time; a £71m package has reportedly been agreed with Brentford, and the Cameroon international could make his debut against West Ham United in the first match of the pre-season tour in New Jersey.
Andre Onana is sidelined with a hamstring issue, while Lisandro Martinez remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
Joshua Zirkzee has also been left in Manchester due to a minor injury concern.
Cunha, Leon in Man United squad for Leeds clash
Amorim has selected a 29-man squad for the clash with Leeds, but Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho will not be participating, as all five are expected to leave the club.
Leon, another newcomer, will wear the number 30 shirt, while Cunha will take the number 10. Additionally, Tyler Fredricson (33), Chido Obi (32), and Diogo Dalot (2) have all updated their jersey numbers for the current season.
Man United will face Leeds, West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton, and Fiorentina during their pre-season schedule before starting their 2025-26 Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 17.
