New Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol has penned a heartfelt goodbye message to former club Udinese following his move to Elland Road.

The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Leeds, becoming the second new arrival of the summer transfer window, alongside striker Lukas Nmecha, who will officially join on July 1. The move for Bijol involves a fee of around £15 million and marks the end of a three-year stint for the defender with Udinese.

During his time there, he made 95 appearances for the club, scoring five goals. In a message to Udinese shortly after confirming his transfer to Leeds, Jaka Bijol expressed his gratitude:
“I want to thank you all for the incredible 3 years I’ve spent in this beautiful city and this beautiful club… It’s been years of ups and downs for everyone, but for those experiences I am forever grateful.

“Thank you Udinese Calcio for the trust you have placed in me since the first day and especially thank you to all the teammates and the staff who made every day the best club! I’ve always given my all for the black and white shirt and I’m forever grateful for all the support!

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Jaka.”

Jaka Bijol is set to make his highly anticipated debut for Leeds United when they face off against their historic rivals, Manchester United, in their opening pre-season match on Saturday, July 19. Kickoff for the game is set for 2 p.m. local time in Stockholm, Sweden, at the storied Friends Arena. The club will get a crucial chance to evaluate their squad and foster camaraderie before the upcoming season.

Bijol’s first competitive outing for Leeds United will take place during their Premier League opener against Everton after this preseason match. This game will be played at Elland Road, which is known for its tremendous atmosphere, on Monday, August 18. The team wants to start the season strong against their opponents, so fans may look forward to kickoff at 8 p.m. Both games are expected to be crucial in Leeds’ career as Jaka Bijol tries to make a name for himself on the squad and lead them to victory in the forthcoming campaign.
