Jason Wilcox Hails Man United Revival Under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, says the club have a “clear plan” to return to the top of English and European football — with continued investment and a relentless drive for improvement forming the backbone of that vision.

Following a summer spending spree of £236 million, United brought in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško, Senne Lammens, and Diego León, all of whom have begun to make their mark under Rúben Amorim’s leadership. The new-look squad has responded with three straight wins, helping to ease early-season pressure and restore optimism around Old Trafford.

A Clear Strategy for Sustained Success

Speaking this week, Jason Wilcox underlined United’s determination to re-establish themselves among Europe’s elite.

“We’ve got a clear plan,” Wilcox said. “We know exactly what we have to do and which areas of the team need strengthening. To consistently compete for Champions League places, Premier Leagues, and European trophies, we must invest — but more importantly, we must recruit the right players.”

Wilcox stressed that the club’s recruitment strategy goes beyond pure talent.

“It’s not just about signing elite footballers,” he continued. “They must have the right character, the right mentality, and be able to handle the pressure that comes with representing Manchester United.”

The director added that both he and Amorim share an unrelenting desire to improve.

“Rúben will never be satisfied. I’ll never be satisfied. That’s the culture we want here — a mindset where nobody ever settles, because the standards at Manchester United demand more every single day.”

New Signings Begin to Shine

Among the summer arrivals, Mbeumo and Cunha have quickly become key figures, using their Premier League experience to help drive United’s resurgence. Šeško, meanwhile, is finding his rhythm after a delayed start, while Lammens has impressed enough to claim the No. 1 goalkeeper spot.

“The guys have settled in really well,” said Wilcox. “Matheus and Bryan already knew the league and the lifestyle, which helped, while Benji and Senne have adapted brilliantly. They’re all top professionals, and it’s clear we’re heading in the right direction.”

Focused on the Long Game

Jason Wilcox acknowledged there will be “bumps in the road,” but urged calm and consistency regardless of outside noise.

“The only way to get this club back to the top is by driving standards every day. The players and Rúben are certainly doing that.”

With belief returning and momentum building, United’s plan under Amorim and Wilcox is starting to take shape — one built not just on investment, but on identity, unity, and ambition.
