Kevin Durant’s Former Townhouse Listed for $35….But There’s a Catch

Posted on

Kevin Durant’s old townhouse goes on the market—for a cool \$35. (sort of)

Picture having a piece of NBA history—a luxury townhouse previously occupied by Kevin Durant, one of the most exciting players in the NBA. Now, picture having the opportunity to bid on it for just \$35. Too good to be true? It is kind of.

The Oklahoma City home, Durant used to live in back in his early Thunder years, has come on the market with a staggering asking price of \$35. But there’s a catch: the listing is part of a novel open-bid process in which prospective buyers bid in their opinion of the real worth of the home. The seller, who bought the home for \$1.15 million in 2017, is expecting bids in the range of \$1 million.

Still, the buzz is real. By mid-July, hundreds of bids had poured in—some cheeky, some serious. “I’ve gotten offers for \$35,” the listing agent told Realtor.com. “And I have to present them to the owner. But luckily, they can be weeded out fast.”

The townhouse itself is not your average abode. Covering close to 4,000 square feet, the four-bedroom, four-bathroom, two-kitchen townhouse contains a couple of Durant-sized amenities—a shower and bathtub stretching extra tall and extra long, respectively, to fit the 6-foot-11 superstar comfortably. It’s a place of luxury and legacy.

Durant, who is 36, spent close to a decade in Oklahoma City after being taken by the Seattle SuperSonics with the second overall pick in the 2007 draft. Once the team moved and rebranded as the Thunder, he came to embody the franchise. Durant’s experience in OKC featured MVP-level play, iconic postseason runs, and a personal affinity with the city. Although he departed in 2016, the remnants of his existence still linger in the walls of this townhouse. It’s not merely a piece of real estate—it’s a time capsule of the golden era of Thunder basketball.

And even though Durant has gone on to new destinations—most recently sent to the Houston Rockets in a massive seven-team swap—his Oklahoma City legacy remains. To basketball aficionados, this listing is not merely real estate. It’s the opportunity to own a piece of history, a house once influenced by the pacing of a superstar’s existence.

There’s no timeline for making an offer, so if you have a million dollars—or even the dream—you may want to look a little closer.
