Kudus Linked with Chelsea and Spurs as West Ham Plan for Departure

Given the high demand for the Ghanaian midfielder’s talents, West Ham may have to let go of Mohammed Kudus this summer. The 24-year-old had a lackluster 2024–25 season, managing just five goals and four assists across all competitions. The club has previously rejected a £50 million approach from Chelsea, and Tottenham is apparently interested in making a deal for him as well.

If their valuation is met, it’s likely that Kudus will be allowed to leave West Ham, prompting the club to consider potential replacements.

West Ham line up Omari Hutchinson as Mohammed Kudus replacement

One player under consideration is Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson, according to former scout Mick Brown who spoke to Football Insider. “West Ham have been keeping an eye on Omari Hutchinson. Scouts were watching him during the England U21s, and I hear they were impressed with what they saw. That tournament reignited interest in him when it looked like it was fading.

“He’s a talented player with something special about him. However, in my opinion, he remains a bit raw and needs to develop more consistency to really excel at the top level. West Ham will be aware of both the positives and the areas he needs to improve on before deciding if he’s the right fit.

“If they do end up losing Mohammed Kudus, as it seems likely, they will need a replacement. Hutchinson is viewed as an ideal candidate for that role. He has a release clause in his Ipswich contract, and should West Ham secure a significant sum from the Mohammed Kudus transfer, they could utilize that to bring him in.”

Given Ipswich’s relegation, Hutchinson is expected to want to stay in the Premier League, and a move to West Ham would facilitate that opportunity. It remains to be seen if their interest intensifies in the weeks ahead.
