Mbeumo Transfer to Man United in Doubt as Rival Bid Surfaces

Manchester United are facing another challenge in their pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils have identified Mbeumo as a key target to strengthen their attack. So far, they have had two unsuccessful attempts to sign the Cameroonian, with Brentford firmly rejecting their offers and sticking to a £63million price tag.

Despite these setbacks, United remains determined to secure his signature and hopes to finalize the deal before departing for their pre-season tour in the US as part of the Premier League Summer Series. However, they face some complications, as Tottenham has also shown interest, though Mbeumo appears to prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Additionally, other transfer developments could complicate United’s efforts to land Mbeumo in the near future. Nottingham Forest is reportedly targeting his teammate Yoanne Wissa this summer, having made a fresh bid after previous offers were unsuccessful. Forest views Wissa as a potential replacement for Anthony Elanga, who is expected to join Newcastle imminently.

The Mirror claims that if Wissa chooses to join Forest, Brentford might up their asking price for Mbeumo. In reaction to this situation, United may choose to expedite its negotiations in order to finalize the deal before any price rises occur. We’ll see how it pans out. Our stance is that he had a phenomenal season last time around, so we anticipated interest in him. If the deal is right, there’s a transaction to be made; otherwise, he stays put.”

Giles added, “We’ve had a chat with Bryan and his agents. It’s not a foregone conclusion that he’ll be leaving this summer. There is interest. He had a cracking season last time, so it’s only natural there is going to be interest in him. If we receive the right offer, there’s potentially a deal to be done, but there’s only so much we can divulge on that.”

Mbeumo, 25, had an impressive season with Brentford last term, scoring 20 goals across all competitions. Currently, he has just one year left on his contract in West London.
