Musiala Breaks Silence Following Devastating Injury vs PSG

Jamal Musiala has expressed that there is ‘no one to blame’ after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup quarter-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old sustained these severe injuries after colliding with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at the end of the first half, shortly before the Champions League winners secured a 2-0 victory to advance to the semi-finals against Real Madrid.

It was captured on video while Musiala was attempting to play the ball and his ankle became trapped between Donnarumma’s arms and chest. Musiala’s ankle was ripped at an awkward angle as the momentum pulled both players in opposing directions.

The unfortunate accident visibly affected Donnarumma, who was seen in tears and knelt down with his head in his hands while Bayern teammates rushed to help Musiala. Following the incident, the Italian goalkeeper took to Instagram to send his well wishes, stating: ‘All my prayers and well wishes are with you @jamalmusiala10.’

Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, however, conveyed his dissatisfaction with Donnarumma, suggesting he ‘took a risk’ during the challenge.

Despite the chaos, Musiala, who traveled back from Atlanta to Munich for surgery, reassured fans in a video on Instagram that no blame should be placed. He said, “I wanted to say thanks for all the love and support. It’s heartening to see the football community come together in times like this. I really appreciate it.”

He continued, “The surgery went really well, I’m in good care, and I want to emphasize that there’s no one to blame for this. Situations like this happen, and now I’m focusing on using this time to regain my strength and positivity.”

According to Bayern, the Germany international is expected to be sidelined ‘for the next few months.’ Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany referred to the incident as ’emotional,’ acknowledging, “Of course it didn’t look good. I hope it’s not too bad, but it didn’t look good. I wish him the best possible recovery.”

Last season, Musiala made a significant impact, scoring 21 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions as Bayern clinched the Bundesliga title.
