Napoli have sent a message of respect to competitors Inter, who lost out on the Serie A title by a one-point margin in a thrilling race for the 2024-25 Scudetto: ‘Successes are also measured by the value of the opponent’.
This season marks an important milestone for Napoli, as they have been crowned champions of Italy for the fourth time in the club’s illustrious history and for the second time in three years. Their title victory was secured with a commanding 2-0 win against Cagliari on Friday night. Although Inter matched Napoli’s intensity by winning their own match against Como with a score of 2-0 away from home, they found themselves unable to close the gap in what was the final match of the campaign.

There were plenty of twists and turns in the race for the 2024-25 Serie A title. Inter were three points clear at the top of the table in April, but suffered a six-point swing with consecutive losses against Bologna and Roma at the end of that month, which put Napoli back in control at the top of the table.
Though they were left disappointed on Friday night, Inter were gracious in defeat and sent a message of congratulations to Napoli immediately after their league title was confirmed.
“Congratulations to Napoli for winning the Scudetto,” was the message from the Inter social media team on Friday night.
Napoli have since responded with a gracious reply on Saturday morning, which read: “Great successes are also measured by the value of the opponent. It was an exciting race. Good luck for next week.”
Inter will have an opportunity to get their hands on some silverware when they go up against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final next Saturday, May 31.
