Pogba Gets Green Light from Mbappe Amid United Comeback Buzz
According to sources, Paul Pogba, a former midfielder for Manchester United, is set to return to professional football by joining AS Monaco of Ligue 1. After a difficult time that included a suspension for a doping infraction, the 32-year-old French international left Juventus in November of last year and has been without a club ever since. Pogba is highly motivated to make his comeback after serving his ban and show what he can do on the field. His transition to Monaco marks a crucial milestone in his journey to carve out a name for himself in a highly competitive league, while also playing a vital role in helping his new team reach its ambitions. Embracing this fresh start, Pogba is looking forward to rejoining the game and making a positive impact.
He was initially banned for four years after testing positive for DHEA, but he managed to reduce the punishment to 18 months on appeal. Pogba was allowed to return to football back in March, but despite being linked with several destinations—including some talk of a third spell at United—he has been without a club.
It now appears that he is close to finding a new home, with various reports suggesting he has agreed to a two-year deal with Monaco. Pogba is reportedly set to undergo a medical and complete his transfer this week.
This will mark the first time Pogba has played domestic football in his home country, despite starting his career with Le Havre before moving to United. He is reportedly aiming to break back into the France squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Additionally, it seems that his potential move to Monaco has received a thumbs-up from international teammate Kylian Mbappe, who shared a post about Pogba’s move on his Instagram. He captioned it with “Pogback,” along with red and white color emojis representing Monaco’s colors, and included the Monégasque phrase “Daghe Munegu,” meaning “Go Monaco.”
Mbappe joined Monaco’s youth setup in 2013 and made 60 first-team appearances for the club before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
