Rashford Back on Barcelona’s Radar Following Nico Setback

Barcelona are reportedly set to revive their interest in Marcus Rashford following the failure to secure Nico Williams this summer.

According to Fichajes, Marcus Rashford has returned to Barcelona’s radar after the disappointing outcome in the chase for Nico Williams, who opted to sign a long-term contract with Athletic Club. The Catalans are now interested in the Manchester United forward as they want to enhance their attacking roster.

Having stalked Williams throughout the previous year, Barcelona had great hopes of acquiring him as a significant summer addition. In addition to offering him a competitive wage that matched his expectations, they were willing to honor his reasonable release clause.

As the deal progressed, Williams’ agent reportedly sought written assurances from Barcelona that the player would be registered by the end of August. However, the Catalan club declined to provide such guarantees, leading to the collapse of the transfer. Williams has since committed to Athletic Club until 2035, closing the door on a potential summer move.

Meanwhile, Barcelona remains keen on acquiring a top-class attacker to diversify their options. While Luis Diaz’s agent is working on securing a deal, they must persuade Liverpool to sell, having had an earlier approach rejected in June.

With the failure to land Williams, Barcelona is set to renew their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, a player they have shown interest in since the summer transfer window began. Rashford has returned to Old Trafford after a mixed loan spell at Aston Villa, and Manchester United is reportedly asking for £40 million to part ways with the English winger.

Rashford’s potential move to Barcelona seems promising, as he is eager to join the club. He expressed his interest even during Barcelona’s negotiations with Williams. The attacker presents a viable option to enhance their attacking lineup under Hansi Flick.

However, Rashford’s wages pose a concern for all parties involved, as Barcelona may look to negotiate a reduction in his salary demands. There’s a strong possibility for negotiations to commence and reach a compromise that satisfies everyone, making Rashford a significant target for Barcelona following their unsuccessful bid for Williams.
