Thierno Barry Promises Goals and Energy for Everton’s Wild Crowd
Thierno Barry has expressed his excitement about playing in front of Everton’s ‘crazy’ fans. He recently completed a £27.5 million transfer to Hill Dickinson Stadium from Villarreal, becoming the club’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
The France under-21 international has agreed to a four-year contract with David Moyes’ team after catching attention with his performances in La Liga. Barry shared his thoughts about his new journey and what fans can expect from him as he joins fellow new recruit, Charly Alcaraz.
“I’m very happy,” Thierno Barry said. “It’s very exciting to be here. I just can’t wait to start and I hope to get going very quickly. I had good conversations with the manager. He told me I have the quality to play in the Premier League. He wants to do good work with me and I felt his sincerity, which is also why I chose to come here.
“I think the fans here are, like, crazy people… I like this! I want to score for these people. My main desire is to play, score, and enjoy it with the fans. On the pitch, I always give 100 percent; I always aim to score and help the team win. This is my character. Scoring brings me joy, and you can expect me to give my all every match.
“Since the manager arrived last season, I believe he has slightly transformed the team, and with the new stadium, I sense a renewed ambition at the club. I want to contribute to that.”
Meanwhile, Moyes has expressed confidence in adding more players to his squad ahead of Everton’s opening Premier League match against Leeds United on August 18.
“We are delighted to have brought Thierno Barry to the Club,” he said. We think he has a lot of promise and are optimistic about the future. We anticipate beginning our work with him shortly, but we will give him some time to become settled. I have high hopes of adding more players in the upcoming weeks.
