Tottenham Injury Update: Kudus, Bergvall and Solanke Return Timelines Revealed
Tottenham Hotspur head into Sunday’s North London Derby with a mounting list of injury concerns, as Thomas Frank prepares for one of the most challenging squad selection weeks of his tenure. The trip to the Emirates already looked daunting, but the international break has delivered further setbacks to key players across the pitch.
Mohammed Kudus remains one of Spurs’ biggest fitness question marks, though the signs are positive. The £55m summer signing missed games against Copenhagen and Manchester United with what Frank called “a knock”, and was subsequently withdrawn from Ghana’s international squad. However, Kudus has stayed at Hotspur Way throughout the break and Spurs expect him to be fit in time for Sunday.
Potential return: November 23 vs Arsenal
Lucas Bergvall had been hopeful of returning from the concussion he sustained against Chelsea on November 1. He even joined up with Sweden, only for symptoms to reappear during fitness tests, forcing him to withdraw. The Swedish FA stressed no risks would be taken, leaving Spurs sweating on his availability.
Potential return: November
Another concern arose when Pape Matar Sarr was forced off early during Senegal’s defeat to Brazil at the Emirates. Senegal manager Pape Thiaw suggested the issue might be minor, but Spurs will assess the midfielder upon his return.
Potential return: Unknown
Dominic Solanke, out since pre-season with an ankle injury, remains difficult to predict. Frank indicated the international break would be crucial to his progress, but his exact recovery timeline is still unclear.
Potential return: Unknown
Randal Kolo Muani continues to struggle for fitness since arriving on loan from PSG, with a jaw injury ruling him out of France’s November fixtures. Reports claim surgery is not required, yet he may still face up to two months out.
Potential return: Unknown
Archie Gray has missed three games with a calf injury and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.
Potential return: December
There is better news regarding Radu Drăgușin, who played 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Leyton Orient — his first appearance since January’s ACL tear. Spurs hope to reintegrate him immediately.
Potential return: November 23 vs Arsenal
Dejan Kulusevski is also edging closer after months out with a patella injury. He has returned to outdoor training and could feature again before the new year.
Potential return: December
Kota Takai and Ben Davies are both recovering from quad and hamstring issues respectively, with late-November or December returns likely.
Long-term absentees Yves Bissouma (ankle ligament damage) and James Maddison (ACL surgery) remain out indefinitely, with Maddison not expected back until summer 2026.
