Transfer twist: Newcastle explore Sesko deal with Isak future in doubt

Newcastle United is currently weighing its options regarding RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as Alexander Isak expresses a desire to explore new opportunities during this transfer window. While Isak hasn’t officially submitted a transfer request yet, he’s indicated to the club that he wants to consider his options, leading to speculation surrounding his future.

Liverpool was initially looking into signing Isak, but ultimately decided to go after Hugo Ekitike for a substantial £79 million. Meanwhile, Newcastle has been keeping an eye on Sesko as a potential replacement for Isak if he decides to move on. They had also been engaged in talks to renew Isak’s contract, showing their desire to keep him on the team. As of now, there haven’t been any agreements reached regarding Isak’s future. His current contract still has three years left, and the club is in a strong position, valuing him at £150 million. They’ve made it clear that he’s not up for sale.
Recently, Isak faced some challenges, as manager Eddie Howe decided to send him home before a pre-season match against Celtic due to the ongoing transfer speculation. Although Newcastle stated that he was left behind for a minor thigh issue, the surrounding rumors contributed to that decision.

Brentford’s forward Wissa is also on Newcastle’s radar, but negotiations are ongoing. Wissa wants a move after Brentford’s sale of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United for £71 million raised his market value to around £40 million. Newcastle hopes to secure him for about £35 million, viewing him as a secondary option to Isak.

As the season approaches, fans are anxious about Isak’s future in light of the transfer talk. Newcastle had plans to strengthen their squad for the Champions League, aiming to recruit four new players, including a second striker to complement Isak. The recent signings and transfer pursuits suggest that the club is focused on holding onto its key players, especially as it aims to compete on multiple fronts.
