Tyrique George Set for Fulham as Chelsea Agree £22m Deadline Day Deal
Fulham have confirmed with Chelsea a permanent deal to sign winger Tyrique George.
The 19-year-old has been permitted to have a medical before confirming a £22million deal that will leave Chelsea with a sell-on clause.
Tyrique George, whose lone Premier League strike of his career came so far afield at Fulham last season, will pen a five-year contract at Craven Cottage.
The youth international of England made 26 first-team appearances across all competitions at Chelsea, contributing with three goals and three assists when they won the Conference League and Club World Cup this season.
Tyrique George is highly rated at Stamford Bridge but has had game time limited since the arrivals of Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens this summer.
The Cobham academy graduate has explored options elsewhere after making only one substitute outing this season when used early as a replacement for the injured Liam Delap at Fulham on Saturday and was once close to joining Italian Serie A side Roma.
RB Leipzig too were interested in Tyrique George, but Fulham, seeking attacking reinforcements themselves, have acted promptly and completed a deal with Chelsea.
Fulham target at least two wingers before this Monday deadline and are within their sights on transfers with Shakhtar Donetsk forward Kevin and AC Milan wideman Samuel Chukwueze.
They are waiting on Kevin’s medical, while they have agreed on an initial loan deal with an option to buy of between £22m–£26m for Samuel Chukwueze.
Fulham were attracted to both Chelsea man Raheem Sterling and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson, the latter of whom is joining on loan at Brentford, but opted to sign Tyrique George instead.
Fulham’s summer has been quiet, but there’s still a sense of ambition. With Silva pushing hard and several deals in motion, the final days of the window could turn things around. Fans are watching closely, hoping the club follows through on its late intent.
