Aston Villa’s promising Under-19 side will continue their UEFA Youth League journey later this month, with full details now confirmed for their eagerly anticipated Round Three clash against Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar.

Led by head coach Jimmy Shan, the Young Lions are set to play the tie over two legs, as they aim to reach the round of 32 for the second consecutive season — an achievement that would further highlight the impressive progress being made within Villa’s academy ranks.

Villa earned their spot in the third round of the Domestic Champions Pathway in emphatic fashion. Shan’s side produced a dominant display in the previous round, defeating Albanian champions KF Skënderbeu 7–1 on aggregate. That resounding victory demonstrated Villa’s attacking prowess as well as their poise and reliability on the European scene.

Their next opponents, AZ Alkmaar’s Under-19s, come into the tie as the youth champions of the Netherlands. The Dutch side arrive in strong form after dismantling Gibraltan outfit Lincoln Red Imps by a staggering 9–0 aggregate scoreline in the second round. Known for their technical quality and fluid attacking football, AZ are expected to provide a serious test for the English side.

The first leg will be played on Wednesday, November 26, at Bodymoor Heath, Aston Villa’s state-of-the-art training facility. Kick-off is scheduled for 1pm, giving home supporters the chance to watch some of the club’s brightest young talents in action on familiar turf.

The return leg will take place two weeks later, on Tuesday, December 9, at the AZ Training Centre in Wijdewormer, with the match starting at 6pm CET (5pm BST).

AZ’s Dutch flair and technical accuracy will be up against Villa’s disciplined English structure in what should be an exciting clash of styles. It is well known that both teams produce outstanding young players. As the upcoming generation of European stars take centre stage, fans can anticipate an exciting and competitive match because both teams are confident and full of attacking talent.
